Celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2018, the Tahoe Cup Paddle Racing Series is one of the longest running paddle race series events in the country. The Waterman’s Memorial kicks off the season of paddle racing in the Tahoe area on Saturday, May 26th.
As in past years, the series offers both the recreational paddler and the race enthusiast an opportunity to participate in SUP, prone paddleboard, OC1 and Surfski class races on Lake Tahoe from May through September. The 2018 series invites all paddling craft to participate.
The Waterman’s Memorial Race will include 3-mile and 6-mile courses (run separately so those interested can compete in both distances), as well as a kids 1-mile course. Pre-registration is $35 for either the 3- or 6-miler and kids under 17 can race the 1-miler for $5. Ages 10 and under are free. The event is open to all paddling craft and participants of all ability levels.
Awards for top 3 Women finishers, top 3 Men finishers and top 3 in the Junior division for each paddle craft type.
The Tahoe Cup and the Waterman’s Memorial race will be presented by the Lake Tahoe Watermans Association. The Watermans Memorial will be hosted at the paddling headquarters of the Sierra Nevada, Waterman’s Landing paddle outfitter and cafe, located on the water in beautiful Carnelian Bay in North Lake Tahoe.
